Dear Friend,
On Friday, Remembrance Day, I was honoured to join the RCAF Foundation for a poignant morning spent commemorating our fallen soldiers, our veterans, and those currently serving in a ceremony at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Mausoleum in front of W/C William G. Barker memorial.
|
Remembrance Day has always been such an important day to my family. Peter’s grandfather was a RCAF pilot in WW1, Peter’s father was a spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain in WWII and my father was a member of Conn Smythe’s 30th Battery arriving in France on D-Day+5 - While in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, I took a moment to visit his grave and lay a wreath in thanks.
They never wanted to talk about war. They lived through it and it was awful. Every year, we take this day to give thanks to those who have served and continue to serve our country.
Each year I love to share my father-in-law’s favourite poem. We think Peter’s father may actually have written it:
The drum is silent now,
And the wind sighs
Where once they walked;
And the stars, which watched
The valour of their days,
At each new dusk
Remember.
We Remember.

Dr. Tam encourages Canadians to #WashMaskSpace
|
On November 10th, Dr. Theresa Tam, Chief Public Health Officer, warned us that as COVID-19 transmission continues across the country, other respiratory viruses have increased to above seasonal levels as respiratory virus season gets underway early across Canada. She encourages all Canadians to meet the challenges of this fall and winter, and recommit to not losing the gains we've made as we resume in-person activities by focusing on the three #VaccinePlus precautions:
- Boost your immunity - get vaccinated
- Protect yourself - wear a mask and wash your hands
- Reduce the spread - if you are sick, stay home!
